WestJet Airlines is a Canadian low-cost airline headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. It operates scheduled and charter flights throughout Canada and to destinations in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa.
WestJet was founded by entrepreneur Robert Rabinovitch as an air taxi service between Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 1998, it became a publicly-traded, Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John, Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Trois Rivieres, and company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol WJA.
The airline has since expanded its operations to include other major cities across Canada, including Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, St. John’s, Toronto, Hamilton, London, Windsor, Kitchener/Waterloo, Saskatoon, Regina, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Barrie, Abbotsford, Charlottetown, Moncton, and St. Thomas.
WestJet also offers flights to destinations outside Canada, including the US, Mexico, and Central American countries. As of August 2017, WestJett currently operates a total of 84 planes consisting of Boeing 737 Next Gen, Bombardier Q200 turboprop, Embaero 190 regional jets, and ATR 42s.
The airline’s headquarters are located at Terminal 2 of Calgary International Airport, near the intersection of 17th Avenue SW and Centre Street SE.
What you need to check-in
You can check in online between 24 hours and 60 minutes before your flight’s departure time. To check in you must have a confirmed reservation. With WestJet Online Check-in you can:
All passengers must arrive no later than 3 hours before the scheduled flight departure time. You must be at the airport by 1 h before your scheduled flight departure. You will not be issued a ticket until after you have checked out. No refunds will be given if you miss your flight due to late arrival.
If you don’t have a valid passport, you must contact Arriver CAN at least 24 hours before your trip. You may be required to show proof of citizenship such as an original birth certificate or naturalization paper.
You will need to show your passport and credit card/debit card when paying for your cruise or flight. We recommend that you carry some form of currency (e.g., US dollars) for onboard purchases.
We cannot take cash or traveler’s checks onboard.
You won’t need your boarding pass when you board the plane. Keep it safe until then.
We strongly recommend that you use a credit card to pay your bill. Credit cards are widely accepted depending on where you live. You can find out if your bank accepts them by calling them directly. Some merchants may also accept debit cards. Check with your local store owner before paying with a debit card.

How can I check in for a WestJet flight?
Canada’s largest low-cost carrier offers several ways to WestJet check-in flights. You can use one of the following methods:
Online Check-In.
This option allows you to complete your online check-in 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure date. Simply go to westjet.com/check-in and follow the instructions. If you are unable to access the site, call 855-WJET-FARE.
Mobile Check-In.
Use your mobile device to scan your boarding pass and enter your information into the system. Your boarding pass will be sent via text message to your phone. For Android devices, download the app called West Jet Mobile App. iOS users can download the West Jet Mobile App from Apple’s iTunes Store. Once downloaded, open it up and register your account. To do so, simply tap on the plus sign (+), select “Register New Account,” and follow the prompts.
Kiosk Check-In.
At airport kiosks, passengers can print out their boarding passes and show them to agents.
Counter Check-In.
When making reservations over the phone or online, customers must provide their name, address, contact telephone number, email address, credit card information, and passport information. Agents verify customer identity by comparing the data against government databases.
About WestJet Online Check-in
WestJet is giving its passengers yet another option for checking in for their flight. This new service allows travelers to book their trips online up to 24 hours before departure. To get started, users can visit westjet.com/booking and enter their booking reference code and last name. Once entered, they’ll be taken directly to a secure checkout process. Users must also supply the same personal details required for traditional printed boarding passes.
WestJet web check-in flights, including code-share or interline flights if the first flight is operated by WestJet.
